The true story of one cool word
one cool word magazine is a self-described Vancouverlogue. The 2-year old, independent, local magazine aims to support local art and cultivate the emerging art, writing + music scene in Vancouver. The quarterly publication exhibits art, writing, music, poetry and spoken-word from independent Vancouver artists who are looking for exposure.
A budget as limited as the vocabulary (one word, that is)
Action Adventure Squad saved the day for local, Vancouver-based, not-for-profit, volunteer-run one cool word magazine. Taking on ocw was a special opportunity to do some pro-bono work, so we swooped in and provided a Web-standards compliant XML-based CMS-driven website prepared to help ocw grow and express local art.
The non-technical audience and aesthetic qualities of the actual magazine was crucial to the site's design. Care was taken to ensure the online interaction reflects the physical publication while remaining usable for its audience and easy to update for the ocw staff. We continue to work with ocw as their readership increases and we're pumped to spend more time over the next few months helping grow the magazine online and elsewhere.
